What to Expect from Address Unknown

Each game begins with your first letter that gets mailed directly to your mailbox. Over the course of the mystery, you’ll receive multiple letters each week that build on each other, and will conclude when the mystery has been solved. You'll explore physical evidence and digital environments, unlocking new content and progressing through the mystery at your own pace. It's important to note that each game must be played with both the physically mailed evidence and clues, as well as a computer to use in order to access the companion website.

Yes. While your clues arrive in the mail, the website is essential for fully experiencing the game. A laptop or desktop with the browser set to full screen is recommended. The game is not optimized for mobile devices at this time.

Not until you are told within the game to do so! Opening letters early can disrupt the flow of the game. Instead, wait until you're told to open the next letter, regardless if you decide to play all at once or as the letters arrive. Typically, it'll be written on the screen when to open the next letter for escape room style games or, you'll be told to open the next letter once you've solved the objective for murder mystery style games.

You can absolutely play solo, but it also works great as a co-op experience with friends, family, or your true crime-loving partner. Gather around and investigate together!

Yes! Every adventure features a new setting, a different crime, new characters, and unique puzzles. The gameplay is constantly evolving, and new mysteries are in development now.

That’s up to you! You can wait for all your letters to arrive and binge it in one night, or spread it out week by week. On average, each mystery takes a few hours total to solve.

Hints are available for each section of the game through the companion website. We recommend trying to work through the mystery yourself first—but help is there if you need it. For most mysteries, it's important to not use the back button on your browser! In order for the story to accurately progress, please use the "Back" buttons provided on the companion websites.

Be sure you’ve clicked the “Continue the Game” button after entering your answer. If you’ve left the site or refreshed, you can return directly to your progress using the link provided in the next letter you receive.

Do not use your browser’s back button—it may break the game flow. Only use the in-game “Back” button to navigate safely through the experience.
